No arrests made following Addu gang fights

Addu City, Maldives – Maldives Police Service has revealed that so far, no arrests have been made with regards to the gang violence, which lead to two fights in Addu City last night.

The first fight took place in Feydhoo, near the district children’s park, which left 7 injured. It was reported around 18:30 of Thursday, and Maldives Police Service revealed that the conflict was between two groups of Feydhoo.

The injured individuals were taken to Feydhoo Health Center and Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) for further treatment.

Another fight took place in the city a little after midnight, during the early hours of Friday, which resulted in an individual being hit on the head with a machete. The individual is reported to have gotten injured from the attack, but had left the scene on a motor cycle. This incident took place in Hithadhoo, on the main road, near Masjid al Taqwa (Hussain Moosa Mosque).

Despite no arrests being made regarding the incidents yet, Maldives Police Service reassured the public that the matter is under investigation.
