5 people arrested over Feydhoo gang fight

Addu City, Maldives – Maldives Police Service has revealed that five people have been arrested following the gang fight in Feydhoo on March 12, 2021.

The fight took place in Feydhoo, near the district children’s park, which left 7 injured. It was reported around 18:30 of Thursday, and Maldives Police Service revealed that the conflict was between two groups of Feydhoo.

The injured individuals were taken to Feydhoo Health Center and Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) for further treatment.

According to police, two 21 year olds, 32 year old, 20 year old and an 18 year old men had been arrested under court warrants following the fight. Police did not reveal any further details on the matter.

In addition to the fight in Feydhoo, another fight took place in the city a little after midnight, during the early hours of Friday, which resulted in an individual being hit on the head with a machete. The individual is reported to have gotten injured from the attack, but had left the scene on a motor cycle.

This incident took place in Hithadhoo, on the main road, near Masjid al Taqwa (Hussain Moosa Mosque) and police have not revealed if any arrests had been made following the incident.
