Kudahuvadhoo, Maldives – Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) has announced that today, six workers of Dh. Kudahuvadhoo Airport have tested positive for Covid-19, due to which the island is now under monitoring status.
Due to this, all unauthorized travel to and from the island has been banned until further notice, presumably until authorities conclude contact tracing efforts.
While this is the second time the island is placed under monitoring, back in September 2020, underwent monitoring status following several cases of Covid-19 being recorded in the neighboring island resort, Niyama Private Limited.
As per the latest statistics released by the Health Protection Agency (HPA), a total of 21,819 cases of Covid-19 has been recorded in the country, out of which, 19,342 have made full recoveries. However there still are 2,406 active cases of whom, 126 patients are receiving hospitalized care. Unfortunately the country has lost 64 lives at the hands of Covid-19 in the country thus far.
