Individual travelling with special pass tests positive for Covid-19 in Kulhudhuffushi

Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Maldives — The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has informed that a foreigner who traveled to the capital of Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Kulhuduffushi with a special pass has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

Local media outlets inform that the individual who tested positive for Covid-19 in Kulhuduffushi is a 28 year old male who traveled to Kulhuduffushi under special permit after he arrived to Maldives with a negative PCR test.

Along with this, sources inform that the individual had taken a sample from Male’ before he proceeded on his way to Kulhuduffushi, where the sample returned positive for Covid-19 not long after he arrived to the island.

According to the latest statistics revealed by the Health Protection Agency, the country has till date recorded a total of 22,373 confirmed Covid-19 cases of which 2,404 cases remain active. While 19,897 of these people have completely recovered from the virus, 66 people have passed away from the virus.
