Ungoofaaru Cluster: Dhiffushi placed under monitoring status

Kaafu Atoll, Maldives — The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has placed K. Dhiffushi under monitoring status.

HEOC placed Dhiffushi under monitoring status after two individuals who traveled from Dhiffushi to R. Ungoofaaru tested positive for Covid-19.

The Vice President of K. Dhiffushi, Ibrahim Mubassir stated that 30 people who traveled to Dhiffushi are currently in quarantine and that two have tested positive for the virus.

Mubassir stated that these two individuals had traveled to R. Ungoofaar on March 3rd for medical purposes and returned backed to the island on March 4th. He detailed that the two positive cases are of the same family — a woman and a child. He stated that both individuals were asymptotic when the samples were taken.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) placed R. Ungoofar under monitoring status as two individuals who had traveled to island the island on March 3 has tested positive for the virus. HPA advises all individuals who travelled to R. Ungoofaaru from 2 March 2021 to inform the nearest Hospital or Health Center.

With the addition of Dhiffushi, the inhabited islands under monitoring have added up to 10. The islands are N. Lhohi, R. Ungoofaaru, Lh, Naifaru, K. Huraa, K, Dhiffushi, ADh, Fenfushi, AA. Thoddoo, F. Nilandhoo, Dh. Kudahuvadhoo and Dh, Meedhoo.
