Phase 1 of Hulhumeedhoo MIFCO Harbor Development Project commences

Addu City, Maldives —The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has begun the Addu City, Hulhumeedhoo MIFCO Harbor Development Project (Phase 1).

A ceremony was held on Saturday at S. Hulhumeedhoo to commence the physical works of S. Hulhumeedhoo MIFCO Harbor Development Project (Phase 1). Under this project, a 471,380 cubic meter deep harbor is to be constructed along with reclaiming 1,788 cubic meters of land from the S. Hulhumeedhoo site. In addition, a 97 meter harbor is to be developed at the land under the Phase 1 of this project as well.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the CEO of MTCC Adam Azim, CEO of MIFCO Ismail Fauzee, and the Mayor of Addu City, Abdullah Sodiq.

It was also attended by the MP for Hulhudhoo Constituency, Ilyaas Labeeb, MP for Meedhoo Constituency, Rozaina Adam and higher officials of MTCC. Other Addu City Parliamentarians also flew in for the event including the MP for Hithadhoo-Middle Constituency, MP for South Hithadhoo Constituency and MP for North Hithadhoo Constituency.

The Hulhumeedhoo MIFCO Harbor Development Project is worth MVR 68.80 million and has been assigned to MTCC by the Ministry of National Planning and Housing.
