MNDF 129th Anniversary: Maj. Gen. Shamaal applauds another successful year in service

Malé, Maldives – Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdullah Shamaal stated that in terms of the services and duties of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), last year was very successful.

In a video message shown at the 129th annual MNDF Anniversary, stated that the MNDF had completed many duties and services last year, amidst Covid-19, without any reluctance.

Shamaal noted that MNDF had protected the freedom of this country, saved people stranded in the ocean, saved people from fires and many such accidents during last year.

Shamaal added that even while battling the Covid-19 pandemic, MNDF had worked with other countries by participating in various programs to improve skills and adapt to the situation. Shamaal further added that the MNDF pursued venues to bring the equipment needed to increase the operational capacity.

Shamaal stated that the newfound military programs and laws provide great advantages to the military and reinforces discipline.

A flag raising ceremony was held to commemorate the 129th anniversary of MNDF at Kalhuthukkalaa Koshi today. Defence Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi participated in the ceremony.

The Maldives Defence force was established on 21 April 1892.
