Eydhafushi Covid-19 cases rise to 123

B. Atoll, Maldives – B. Atoll Hospital informs that 123 positive cases have been recorded in B. Eydhafushi from 913 samples collected.

The samples were collected through random sampling and some via the flu clinic established in the island. Results are pending for 41 samples.

Eydhafushi was placed under monitoring upon finding the first Covid-19 case on 19 April 2021. 7 people tested positive initially, including the orthopedic doctor of B. Atoll Hospital. The hospital was closed for contact tracing protocols after this. A symptomatic women was and man were also tested positive for Covid-19 in the flu-clinic on the same day.

There has been an alarming rise in cases in the atolls according to statistics released by Health Protection Agency (HPA).

HPA revealed that 386 cases new cases were recorded yesterday. 105 were from the Malé area, while 198 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. The figures also included the 06 new found cases from operational resorts and 77 case from industrial islands which brought up the total active cases in the country to 4,009.

With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country has reached 28,588 out of which 24,499 patients have made full recoveries
