Malé, Maldives – Health Protection Agency informed that a Maldivian has passed away due to Covid-19 this morning increasing the total number of fatalities to 93.
According to HPA, a 87 year old Maldivian male admitted at Hulhumalé facility was declared dead at 01:39 last night bringing the death toll to 6 deaths in 36 hours.
With this death, the total number of fatalities of Covid-19 in the island nation has risen to 93.
While Covid-19 cases has been on a rise recently, Maldives has recorded over 1,000 daily cases for the past four days with 1,467 cases recorded yesterday as well.
According to HPA, the figures include 939 cases from the past 24 hours and the remaining 528 cases were from backlogged samples.In the statistics released by HPA, it was detailed that out of the 1,467 cases, 1,267 were from the Malé area, while 182 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. The figures also included 18 case from operational resorts which brought up the total active cases in the country to 15,003.
