Addu City, Maldives – The Islamic Ministry of Maldives has issues a statement extending the period of mosque closure in Addu City.
In a statement released today, the Islamic Ministry informed that due to the increasing number of cases, mosques are directed to not hold congregational prayers from Fajr (dawn prayer time) of the 15 May til 26 May 2021.
The mosques are directed to conduct the adhan, call for prayer, at the prayer times.
The Ministry advises the public to observe all prayers, although the mosques are closed due to the pandemic. They also advise everyone to make dua and continue supplications.
The monitoring status and curfew from 18:00 to 04:00 in Addu city has been set due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the City.
112 positive cases were recorded as of 19 May 2021 with 22 recoveries in the city. Addu City has been placed under strict curfew since 13 May 2021.
