Covid-19 testing not available in Fuvahmulah, 487 samples pending

Malé, Maldives – Fuvahmulah Emergency Operation Center (FEOC) has expressed concern after only 15 samples were tested out of 165 sent in the past 24 hours.

Aminath Ahmed from the FEOC said that the city is facing difficulties in contact tracing since results for 487 samples are not yet received from the capital city Malé.

Fuvahmulah city does not have the capability to test for Covid-19 and are sending samples for testing including 187 random samples sent to Malé. In addition to Malé, the city also sends samples to Addu Equatorial Hospital for Covid-19 testing.

The new mayor of Fuvamulah City, Ismail Rafeeq has requested the President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Vice President Faisal Naseem to facilitate Covid-19 testing in Fuvahmulah City itself, however, the request is still pending.

213 people are Covid-19 positive in the city with 8 testing positive in the past 24 hours.
