Male’, Maldives — The Mayor of capital Male’ city, Dr. Mohammed Muizzu has stated that the policies should be made with the opinions of the citizens as it is made especially for their benefit, otherwise, the policies would just increase the burdens that citizens will have to carry.

Muizzu expressed his sorrow last night at twitter after a helpless citizen contacted Muizzu and stated that the his five children, sick mother and wife live together in a 12×10 room. They have to take turns in sleeping and do not have enough space to pray in the room. The individual told Muizzu that he used to go to the mosque for prayers, however was stopped by the Police and sent back home due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Muizzu stated that the individual questioned him with sentiment that Police stop can stop mass prayers in the mosque to curb the spread of Covid-19 instead of banning citizens like them who do not have any space to pray at home from attending the mosque for daily prayers.

Noting that this is the condition of majority of the citizens living in Male’ city, Muizzu stated that the policies should be made with the opinions of the citizens as it is made especially for their benefit, otherwise, the policies would just increase the burdens that citizens will have to carry.
