Malé, Maldives – MP of Makunudhoo Constituency Mohamed Raai has said that the progress of the nation has slowed due to Current Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed’s absence in the country.
Speaking at Thursday night’s MDP national Steering Committee meeting, MP Raai said that when Nasheed works as the Speaker of the Parliament, his works are directly connected to the running of the country and that there is an emptiness when Nasheed is not in the Speaker’s chair today.
I believe that the progress of the nation has slowed down. This is because Nasheed was connected to the day to day events of the country.

In addition to this, MP Raai said that MDP will always continue to talk about the terror attack against the Speaker on May 6, and that MDP was the most injured in the attack after the Speaker himself. He also added that injuries to the ruling party MDP, are injuries to the citizens as well.
MP Raai further went on to state there is a high chance of such attacks happening again if they do not get to the root of the problem.
