Malé, Maldives — President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih states that tourist arrival from South Asia is expected to resume from July 15 onwards.

Speaking at a press conference earlier to inform that Maldives is likely to welcome tourists from South Asia on July 15, however, the President said that it depends on the Covid-19 situation in Maldives within the upcoming few weeks.

Maldives temporarily stopped issuing tourist visas to South Asian tourists on 13 May 2021 due to the deteriorating Covid-19 situation in the region. This includes the top source tourist markets India.

While Maldives faced a third Covid-19 wave over the past month, the country has been slowly recovering from one of the worst waves since its first case of community spread on April 2020.
