Malé City Council opens for public opinions regarding Industrial Village

Malé, Maldives – Malé City Council has decided to ask for public opinion regarding the direction to take in developing the Industrial Village.

In the press conference today, Malé Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that while the former President Yameen Abdul Gayyoom’s government planned to develop the Industrial Village as an industrial area with garages and workshops, the incumbent government is focusing more on utilizing the space as an entertainment arena.

Mayor Muizzu added that a large segment of the space will also be needed during the construction of the Malé-Thilafushi bridge.

In addition to Industrial Village development, the Malé City Council has decided to open to the public regarding public transport, Wifi coverage across Malé and CCTV installations.

The City Council intends to meet residents of specific districts to discuss this and other relevant issues. The Malé City Council plans to meet,

  • Villimalé Residents at Villimalé football stadium at 20:30 on 8 August 2021.
  • Machangoalhi district residents at Maafannu Starium Turf at 20:30 on 10 August 2021.
  • Maafannu district residents at Rasfannu at 20:30 on 12 August 2021.
  • Henveyru district residents at Lonuziyaaraiy park at 20:30 on 14 August 2021.
