Malé, Maldives – An Indian national was arrested today for the attempted murder of a Maldivian taxi driver.
The 25 year old Indian citizen was under the influence at the time of arrest according to the Maldives Police Service. The incident was first reported to the police at 00:33 last night.
The perpetrator reportedly grabbed a taxi from Hulhulé Island Hotel, removed his shirt inside the car and attempted to strangle the Maldivian taxi driver.
The vehicle steered off course and crashed into vehicles parked on the roadside, off Nirolhu Magu 19. The taxi driver retained various injuries in this incident.
Police is further investigating the case.
