Maldives signs MOU with Saudi Arabian Football Federation to develop football

Malé, Maldives – Football Association of Maldives (FAM) and Saudi Arabian Football Federation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday to develop football in the island nation.

At a ceremony held yesterday at the Saudi Arabian Football Federation’s headquarters, President of Saudi Arabian Football Federation Yasser Al Misehal signed the MOU on behalf of Suadi Arabia while President of FAM Bassam Jaleel signed on behalf of Maldives.

In a tweet following the agreement signing, FAM thanked Thanking President Yasser Al Misehal and GS Ibrahim Alkassim and GS Ibrahim Alkassim of Saudi Arabian Football Federation for their assistance to develop Maldives’ football.

Saudi Arabia has previously assisted in training Maldivian footballers, by inviting Maldivian clubs to train at Saudi Arabia.

In the meantime, a Saudi Arabian delegation headed by Under Secretary of Ministry of Islamic Affairs Awwad Sabty M Alenezi in the Maldives on Saturday to discuss the opening of the long-awaited King Salman Mosque.
