COVID-19: 44 percent of hospitalized patients in Maldives at Addu facility

Malé, Maldives – 8 out of the 18 hospitalized patients in the Maldives are at the Addu Covid-19 facility.

Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) also revealed that Addu City recorded 14 new cases as of Saturday. The statistics released by AEH showed that with the additional cases, the total number of active cases in Addu City is now at 244.

Hospitalized Covid-19 patients have increased to 8 in Addu City.

At present, the highest number of active cases are in Feydhoo with 126 cases, followed by Hithadhoo with 76 active Covid-19 cases, while Maradhoofeydhoo has 18 cases and Gan has one active case. Maradhoo has recovered significantly with cases dropping to 22.

Of the remaining two islands in Addu City, Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo, Meedhoo has 2 new cases while Hulhudhoo has none.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) reported that 105 cases were recorded in the Maldives yesterday.

The agency stated that 21 were from the Greater Malé area, while 80 cases were recorded from inhabited islands, 4 cases from operational resorts and no case from a live aboard.

Maldives has recorded a total number of 84 ,971 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,549 are currently active. To date, 83,178 patients have made full recoveries. The country has recorded 231 Covid-19 related fatalities.
