Malé, Maldives – STO states that the first shipment of ambulances to be brought to the Maldives under the MOU between the company and the government have arrived in the Maldives.
Health Ministry, Finance Ministry and State Trading Organization (STO) in June 2021 signed an MOU to bring 96 ambulances to be brought to the islands within 180 days.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Health Ministry by Minister of Health, Ahmed Naseem, Finance Ministry by Minister of Finance, Ibrahim Ameer and on behalf of STO, their Managing Director Hussain Amru.
While Minister Naseem has given multiple dates for the arrival of the ambulances, the government of Maldives state that 60 ambulances will arrive in the country by the end of 2021.
Health Minister Naseem earlier said that the new ambulances will help to strengthen the ambulance services in the atolls and resolve many of the challenges faced in providing emergency medical services in the atolls.
