COVID-19: New cases drop significantly across Maldives

Malé, Maldives – The new Covid-19 cases have dropped below 50, with only 14 cases recorded in the greater Malé area, 22 cases from the inhabited islands and 9 from operational resorts.

The sample positivity rate in the greater Malé area is at 2 percent with 14 positive cases from 943 samples tested.

Maldives has recorded a total number of 86,211 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,339 are currently active. To date, 84,718 patients have made full recoveries. The country has recorded 238 Covid-19 related fatalities.

Covid-19 Status – Addu City

As of Monday, 17 Covid-19 patients made full recoveries bringing the total number of recoveries from the southernmost city to 1540.

While there are 238 active cases, two are being treated in the Addu Covid-19 facility. Five Covid-19 related fatalities were recorded in the city.

Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) informed that Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoofeydhoo and Feydhoo have been under monitoring status for the longest period of time to date in the Maldives, with curfew observed from 21:00 to 04:00.
