COVID-19: 46 new cases in Maldives, 22 from Addu City

Addu City, Maldives – The most recent statistics released by the Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) shows that 22 new cases were recorded in Addu City in 24 hours.

This is 47.8 percent of the total cases recorded in the Maldives at 46 new cases.

The sample positivity rate in the greater Malé area is at 1 percent with only 7 cases. The rest of the cases are from inhabited islands, with 4 from operational resorts.

The statistics released by AEH shows that with the additional cases, the total number of active cases in Addu City is now 239. Five are hospitalized in Addu City.

At present, the highest number of active cases are in Feydhoo with 91 cases, followed closely by Hithadhoo with 90 active Covid-19 cases, Maradhoofeydhoo has 31 cases, while Maradhoo has 25 cases. Meedhoo holds steady with 2 cases while there are no active cases in Gan and Hulhudhoo.

Maldives has recorded a total number of 85,394 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,339 are currently active. To date, 83,809 patients have made full recoveries. The country has recorded 234 Covid-19 related fatalities.
