Addu City, Maldives – Addu Equatorial Hospital today reported two additional deaths due to Covid-19.
At 00:10 an 86 year old Maldivian man admitted at the Addu Covid Management Facility passed away while a 74 year old Maldivian man admitted at the same facility succumbed to the disease at 13:10. These are the 7th and 8th Covid-19 related deaths in the southernmost Addu City.
With this, the Covid-19 death toll in the Maldives has risen to 242.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) informed that 149 new cases were recorded today in the Maldives. Of the 149 new cases, 39 cases are from the greater Malé area while 85 are from the islands and 25 are from operational resorts. 22 patients are hospitalized.
Earlier this month, Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) informed that Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoofeydhoo and Feydhoo have been under monitoring status for the longest period of time to date in the Maldives.
The joint islands of Addu City were placed under monitoring on 28 August 2021. Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo in Addu City were placed under monitoring on 4 September 2021.
