Maldives records 3 Covid-19 deaths within a week

Malé, Maldives – Health Protection Agency today reported that Maldives has recorded its third Covid-19 related fatality this month.

With this, the number of Covid-19 related deaths have increased to 234.

The first Covid-19 related death in October 2021 was on the early morning of 4 October at 02:40 a 54-year-old Maldivian male admitted at Hulhumalé facility in the greater Malé area has passed away.

The second fatality was reported from Addu City. Addu Equatorial Hospital informs that a 97-year-old Covid-19 positive Maldivian male brought from Fuvahmulah to Addu Covid-19 Management Facility on 26 September for further treatment died at 07:50 on 8 October.

The third death is reported today, within 48 hours of the last Covid-19 linked fatality. HPA reports another death from the Hulhumalé facility. A 72-year-old Maldivian female passed away at 10:57 this morning.

The most recent statistics indicate that 46 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the country. Maldives has recorded a total number of 85,394 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,339 are currently active. To date, 83,809 patients have made full recoveries. The country has recorded 234 Covid-19 related fatalities.
