Addu City, Maldives – Addu Equatorial Hospital today reported an additional deaths due to Covid-19, raising the Covid-19 related fatalities in October 2021 in Addu City to five.
A 81 year old Maldivian woman belonging to Feydhoo passed away at 02:30 while receiving treatment at the Addu Covid Management Facility. This is the 9th Covid-19 death in Addu City.
The other 4 Covid-19 deaths in the southernmost Addu City were reported on 8, 13, 18 and 26 of this month, October 2021.
With this, the Covid-19 death toll in the Maldives has risen to 243.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) informed that 173 new cases were recorded today in the Maldives. Of the 173 new cases, 27 cases are from the greater Malé area while 137 are from the islands and 9 are from operational resorts. 26 patients are hospitalized.
Earlier this month, Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) informed that Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoofeydhoo and Feydhoo have been under monitoring status for the longest period of time to date in the Maldives.
The joint islands of Addu City were placed under monitoring on 28 August 2021. Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo in Addu City were placed under monitoring on 4 September 2021.
