Foreigner remanded to custody for desecrating mosque in Malé

Malé, Maldives – A 40 year old Bangladeshi man with an expired visa have been remanded to custody after urinating at a mosque in the capital city Malé.

The foreigner was remanded to 7 days in custody by the Criminal Court after a confession from the suspect.

The man was arrested at 19:58 by the Maldives police for urinating inside the premises of Jalaluddin Mosque located in the capital city of Maldives on 20 November 2021.

Earlier this year, a Bangladeshi national was also deported after he trespassed naked into Islamic Centre in capital city Malé.
