Maldives signs MoU with Singapore to strengthen aviation industry

Malé, Maldives – The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of Maldives has signed two Memorandums of Understandings (MoU) with Singapore to strengthen the aviation industry of Maldives.

The Ministry issued a press release detailing that the two MoUs were signed on Transport Cooperation and on Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation.

The MoUs were jointly signed in Singapore on 15th March by Aishath Nahula, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of Maldives, and S Iswaran, Minister for Transport and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations of Singapore.

Under the MoUs, Maldives and Singapore will strengthen cooperation in the area of transport, including aviation-related training, maritime technical assistance, road and traffic management as well as aircraft accident and incident investigation.

Minister Nahula said that that, “the signing o the MoU is a demonstration of our commitment towards greater collaboration between Maldives and Singapore. This will spur a further exchange of ideas and best practices in the area of transport.”

“Singapore and Maldives share strong and long-standing bilateral ties. As fellow small island states, the signing of the MoU will enable our two countries to deepen our excellent transport relations and cooperation,” said Minister S Iswaran.
