Maldives condemns terrorist attack on Saudi Arabia

Malé, Maldives – Maldives has condemned the recent terrorist attack on oil facilities and civilian areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives on Monday, the Maldivian government strongly condemned the attacks on Saudi Arabia which took place on 25th and 26th March.

“Continuation of such acts of terrorism towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, negatively impact the efforts by the concerned parties and the international community to find peaceful solutions to conflict in the region,” read the statement.

In the statement Maldives reaffirmed its solidarity with the government of Saudi Arabia and reiterated its steadfast commitment to fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The Yemeni Houthi’s initial attack on the Saudi Aramco’s key oil facility in Jeddah on Friday caused a fire in two storage tanks just head of the Saudi Arabia Formula 1 grand prix this weekend.

Since the attacks, the Saudi-led coalition has retaliated with attacks on Yemen. Coalition forces targeted sites early Saturday including Ras Eissa port and electricity and fuel installations in Yemen’s Hodiedah province, as well as military sites in the capital, Sanaa, according to Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV.
