Malé, Maldives – The Maldives Police Service (MPS) on Sunday released permits for the May Day rally to be held at a location other than Majeedhee Magu in the capital city Malé.

While the Police have not identified the location agreed upon with the rally organizers, police previously stated that it is not admissible to hold the rally on Majeedhee Magu on the road due to high traffic in the evenings in Ramadan.

May Day 2022 falls on the last day of Ramadan.

Police have permitted the May Day rally under the Freedom of Peaceful Assembly Act (Act No. 1/2013).
