Russia’s flag carrier Aeroflot resumes flights to Maldives

Malé, Maldives – Russia’s flag carrier Aeroflot resumed direct flights to Velana International Airport (VIA) on Saturday.

Aeroflot commenced scheduled daily flights to the Maldives with its first flight touching down at VIA at 08:15 this morning. Reports suggest that 80 percent of the seats on this flight were booked.

Russia remained the top source market for tourists arriving in the Maldives, making up for 15 percent of tourist arrivals, before ceasing operations on 8 March 2022 due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
