Switzerland – The Maldive on Monday assumed the position at the Executive Board of the World Health Organization representing South East Asia for a term of three years starting 2022.
Maldives’ Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem represented the island nation along with Secretary Rajesh Bhushan of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from India and Vice-Minister of Health Bonifacio Mau Coli Dos Reis of Timor-Leste from the South East Asian region.
The Executive Board is composed of 34 persons who are technically qualified in the field of health, each designated by a Member State that has been elected to serve by the World Health Assembly. Member States are elected for three-year terms.
Minister Naseem attended the 151st session of the Executive Board on Monday, 30 May 2022, at WHO headquarters, Geneva.
