Maldives and Kazakhstan Visa Waiver Agreement comes in to effect

Malé, Maldives – Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Maldivian nationals travelling to Kazakhstan will be now exempted from visa.

The visa exemption will allow Maldivians holding valid Diplomatic, Official and Ordinary passports to enter and stay in Kazakhstan a maximum period of thirty (30) days from the day of their entry.

The visa exemption agreement was signed between the two countries on 9 May 2022 in a ceremony held at Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Maldives by Ahmed Khaleel, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and on behalf of Kazakhstan by Nurlan Zhalgasbayev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Maldives.

However, Maldivians intending to stay for a longer period or to work or to attend an educational institution or conduct business in Kazakhstan, will need to obtain an appropriate visa prior to travel.

Ministry also stated that the visa exemption to Kazakhstan shows a commitment to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries and an important milestone that will facilitate stronger people to people contact, business and investment opportunities for both the Maldives and Kazakhstan.
