Disability benefits to be increased next month

The government has announced that the state allowance for people with disabilities will be increased from next month.

The allowance for people with special needs will be increased from next month, Presidential Spokesperson Miuwan Mohammed said today. However, Miuvan did not say how much will be raised.

The government is now giving MVR 2,000 to people with disabilities. The Blind Association has proposed to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to increase the amount to MVR 5,000.

In this year’s presidential statement, the President said he would increase the allowance for people with special needs. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih recently increased the salaries of teachers and health workers.
