MDP is bigger than any individual

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is today bigger than any individual persona, says chairperson Fayyaz Ismail.

As MDP celebrates its 18th anniversary today, Fayyaz said the party has grown out of idolizing over an individual person, indicating to the departure of the party’s founder, former President Mohamed Nasheed.

“Today we are celebrating the many success of this party by surviving a long, hard journey. The constant challenges party faced are the reasons for success.” Fayyaz added.

Addressing to the members of MDP, Fayyaz said the battles each and every member of the party fought for the past 18 years will remain as the key to overcome any obstacle and the lessons they learned will be valued for generations to come.

Today MDP remains as the largest political party in the country with over 50,000 registered occupying a strong majority in the Parliament with 52 members and majority of councils over the country. MDP has successfully won the last 4 major elections held in the country.
