President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the ‘Minivan Ufaa’ Carnival in Hulhumalé on Saturday, as part of the Independence Day celebrations. The event will run until August 3, 2023.
The opening ceremony was held at Central Park in Hulhumalé and was attended by Vice President Faisal Naseem, cabinet ministers, high-ranking government officials, and members of the public.
After the inauguration, President Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed toured the various attractions at the carnival, including sports and game stalls, stage performances, a drone show, and a fireworks display.
The carnival was organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs in collaboration with Urbanco. The Ministry of Home Affairs also partnered with Dhiraagu, Ooredoo Maldives, the State Trading Organisation (STO), State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), and the Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) to organize the event.
