Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Maldives – Regional news “Thiladhun” reports that a Maldivian aircraft ready to take off from Hanimaadhoo International Airport has caught on fire.
According to a Maldivian official the fire started in the cockpit due to causes yet unidentified. Maldivian reports that windshield of co-pilot side was shattered due to the fire incident.
The Hanimaadhoo International Airport’s fire and rescue team is currently active on the scene and has successfully evacuated all passengers and extinguished the fire.
The plane en route Hanimaadhoo to Malé carried a number of local passengers and tourists.
