The government has initiated the process of washing the roads of Male’ with Chlorinated water, in an attempt to prevent Covid-19 from spreading throughout the city.
The combined efforts of Male’ City Council and Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) commenced on Monday morning near Indhira Gandi Memorial Hospital (IGMH)
Speaking to the press prior to the commencement of the work, Mayor of Male’ City, Shifa Mohamed stated that in order to ensure the cleanliness of the roads of Male’ the Ring Road around Male’ as well as all lanes and roads would be washed during the course of the cleanse.
In addition to this, it was also revealed that waste accumulated in various locations of the city would be cleared out as well as the pallets places on the roads.
Mayor Shifa highlighted the importance of public support in projects such as this, requesting her constituents to stop littering, spitting and blowing noses in public.
She reassured that the Chlorinated water would not affect anyone’s health adversely.
