Kulhudhuffushi City, Maldives – Kulhudhuffushi City Council signs a partnership agreement with Housing Development Corporation (HDC) for HDC to provide technical assistance to the council.

According to the Council President Abdul Latheef Hassan, as the council lacks the capacity of technical expertise and since they need to ensure that the land of the city is used more efficiently, they sought the assistance of HDC. Referring to Hulhumale’ where HDC undertakes and manages the overall planning and building of the reclaimed city of Hulhumalé which is the biggest urban development project, he said that HDC would be of great assistance to the council on managing the land of the city.

This agreement has been made under “HDC beyond Hulhumale'” which is a project of HDC to support integrated planning efforts in urban development among other regions of the Maldives to help cities grow sustainably around the country. Under this agreement HDC will guide Kulhudhuffushi City Council based on their experience from the past 23 years of Hulhumale’ development and help develop Kulhudhuffushi City in a more environmentally friendly and sustainable way.
