Male’, Maldives – British High Commissioner to the Maldives, Caron Rohsler has paid a courtesy call on the Maldivian Defence Minister Mariya Didi yesterday.
According to the Ministry of Defence, discussions on boosting the defence cooperation in the areas of military training, aviation security and counter terrorism were discussed but neither parties had disclosed any further information on the discussions.
British HC, Caron Rohsler had also posted a tweet stating that discussions on challenges such as Covid-19 and climate change in the area of defence and national security were discussed. In addition to this she also highlighted that both parties had spoken about the importance to encourage more females in to the security sector of the Maldives.

British High Commissioner’s meeting with the Defence Minister came on the same day as the United States Secretary of State Michael Pompeo’s visit to the Maldives after attending  the “Indo-Pacific Alliance” meeting in India. During the U.S Secretary of States visit, official discussions over strengthening the military relationship between America and Maldives were also carried out.
