Terror attack plotters remanded

Male’, Maldives – Maldives Police Service (MPS) has announced that the six individuals who had been arrested on November 11 for planning a terrorist attack in Maldives had been remanded.

According to the Police, they had apprehended an eighteen year old, twenty year old, twenty one year old, twenty nine year old, thirty one year old and a thirty four year old during the ongoing operation. Two of them had been arrested from Th. Thimarafushi, one from Male’ City and the remaining were brought in to custody while they were on a fishing vessel out at sea near Male’.

Police told that everyone except the eighteen year old had been remanded for fifteen days while the eighteen year old was remanded for five days.

Police media official stated that the service had stopped the attack after getting intelligence information and brought in the suspected people under police custody. 

”Police have stopped an extremist attack which was being planned in Maldives after Police Intelligence received information of the attack and brought some people under our custody and this operation is still ongoing” Police media official.
