2 random samples comes positive in Fuvahmulah

Fuvahmulah, Maldives – Two random samples taken from Fuvahmulah on February 7, 2021 have come positive for Covid-19.

Fuvahmulah City Council revealed that among the the samples collected, two results came back positive for the virus, while the results of some samples are still pending. In addition, it was highlighted that there may be a possible community spread, given that the samples were collected from individuals who are likely to have met with many members of the public.

With this, the island has been placed under monitoring until further notice, barring any unauthorized travel to and from the island.

With the number of cases of Covid-19 on the rise in the country, currently Addu City is also under monitoring status, following the discovery of a local transmission in the city. Currently there are two clusters in Addu.
