COVID-19: Additional 9 cases, positive toll at 28 in Kudahuvadhoo

Dhaalu Atoll, Maldives – Nine additional cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Dh. Kudahuvadhoo taking the total positive toll in the island to 28 within a few weeks.

The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) informed that over the past 24 hours, they have found additional 09 Covid-19 cases from Fuvahmulah City taking the total to 28.

While 07 people who tested positive for Covid-19 in Kudahuvadhoo has completely recovered from the virus, HEOC informs that the remaining active positive cases in Kudahuvadhoo are of an individual who was in home quarantine in the island along with 20 individuals from the community spread in Kudahuvadhoo.

The signs of a Covid-19 community spread in Kudahuvadhoo was first seen after six individuals who worked at the Kudahuvadhoo airport tested positive for the virus on Wednesday.

As a precaution, HEOC has immediately announced any individual who was in Kudahuvadhoo after February 26th and is currently in the remaining atolls of Maldives to inform the nearest hospitals or health centers at the earliest. Along with this, HEOC has also advised those who traveled from Kudahuvadhoo to Male’ to visit the flu clinic in greater Male’ area to get their samples taken before it gets too late.

HEOC has stated that although they received a negative test result, it is instructed for the individuals to remain 14 days in quarantine and to also inform Covid-19 hotline, 1676 of the information regarding travels to Kudahuvadhoo.
