Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan appointed as Fisheries Minister

Malé, Maldives – Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan has been appointed as the Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture.

Dr. Hussan Rasheed Hassan was serving as the Minister of Environment before his appointment as Fisheries Minister. Prior to this, Dr. Hussain has served as the State Minister for the Ministry of Fisheries under the Nasheed administration and achieved his doctorate in the field of fisheries.

The other cabinet appointment was Aminath Shauna as Minister of Environment, Climate Change, and Technology.

The swearing in ceremony was held at the President’s Office today after which letters of appointment were awarded. They were sworn in by the Chief Justice of Ahmed Muhthassim Adnan.

Minister Hassan is appointed after the removal of Zaha Waheed as Fisheries Minister. Local news reports that Zaha is expected to receive a ministerial position at the President’s Office.
