Covid-19: Over 100 active cases in Kaashidhoo

Kaafu Atoll, Maldives – Active Covid-19 cases in K. Kaashidhoo has increased to over 100 within a few days.

According to Kaashidhoo hospital, six people were confirmed to have tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday itself, including two random samples and of two people who were tested for being symptomatic.

With the addition of these six cases, Kaashidhoo hospital informs that a total of 160 cases have been confirmed from the island, out of which 105 active cases remain. 55 people have completely recovered from the virus in Kaashidhoo.

While 89 houses in Kaashidhoo is currently under monitoring status due to Covid-19, Kaashidhoo hospital revealed that six houses are in quarantine.

Maldives recently saw the biggest wave of Covid-19 to have hit the country since the pandemic began with a record number of daily cases. Alarmingly, the most recent case numbers indicate a higher positive rate in the islands while capital city Malé recovers. The numbers have now slowly started to decrease and citizens are advised to strictly obey HPA guidelines and remain at home as much a possible.

Latest statistics from HPA reveals that Maldives has recorded a total of 76,953 positive cases, of which 2,611 are currently active, and 74,110 people made full recoveries. While 105 new cases were recorded over the past 24 hours, out of the 5424 samples that were taken, HPA informs that 22 cases were from the greater Male’ area, 68 cases from Inhabited islands and no cases were recorded from operational resorts in Maldives.
