Malé, Maldives – Former Defence Minister and MP of Maduvvari Constituency Adam Shareef on Monday, said that the day when the leaders of the current administration will be summoned to the Committee on Deaths and Disappearances is not far away.

Retweeting a news article which announced the relaunching of the investigation into the case of missing 19-year old Aminath Shima Nafiz, MP Adam Shareef raised the question as to why Shima’s whereabouts were not found until now.

Along with this, MP Adam also asked as to why this administration is not talking about such disappearances and negligences while stating that the day when the current government leaders will be summoned to the Committee on Deaths and Disappearances is not far away.

On February 22, Shima boarded a flight from the capital to Fonadhoo island in Laamu atoll and then attempted to travel to Maamendhoo island on a dinghy being steered by a man. The boat is to have overturned during the trip, and the man claims to have placed Shima on top of it, before heading to shore to seek help. While Shima has been missing since he was among the three men that tried to flee with her sister in April.
