COVID-19: Addu City records 16 new cases

Addu City, Maldives – Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) revealed that Addu City recorded 16 new cases as of Sunday.

The statistics released by AEH showed that with the additional cases, the total number of active cases in Addu City is now at 314.

At present, the highest number of active cases are in Maradhoo with 128 cases, followed by Hithadhoo with 99 active Covid-19 cases and Feydhoo with 31 cases, while Maradhoofeydhoo has 11 cases. 

The remaining two islands in Addu City, Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo was brought into monitoring status on September 4th after Covid-19 cases started to rise in the islands. AEH informs that there are 34 active cases in Meedhoo and 11 active cases in Hulhudhoo as of this Sunday.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) stated that 138 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the Maldives on Sunday. While 51 cases were from the Malé area, 72 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. Additionally, 15 new cases were found from operational resorts, adding upto 2,037 active cases in the country.

With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Maldives has reached 82,822 out of which 80,545 patients have made full recoveries, as of September 12 , 2021. Till date, the country has recorded 227 Covid-19 related fatalities.
