COVID-19: Addu City records over 20 cases in one day

Addu City, Maldives – Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) reveals that new cases in Addu City has escalated to over 20 cases in a day.

The statistics released by AEH shows that with the additional 24 cases confirmed yesterday, the total number of active cases in Addu City has risen to 222.

At present, the most number of active cases are in Maradhoo with 97 cases, followed by Hithadhoo with 56 active Covid-19 cases and Feydhoo with 58 cases, while Maradhoofeydhoo has 5 cases and Gan has one active case.

AEH further informs that there are 3 active cases in Meedhoo and 2 active cases in Hulhudhoo as of this Sunday.

Additionally, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) reveals that 220 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the Maldives. It was detailed that out of the 220 cases, 45 were from the Malé area, while 164 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. The figures also revealed that 5 new cases were found from operational resorts with 6 from live aboards, adding upto 1,694 active cases in the country.

With this Maldives continues the trend of higher percentage of cases recorded in the islands.With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Maldives has reached 83,874 out of which 81,939 patients have made full recoveries, as of September 21, 2021.
