Dhangethi Murder: Police find no links to the Thoddoo visitors

ADh Atoll, Maldives – The Maldives Police Service has stated they have found no forensic evidence linking the two Thoddoo visitors to local businessman Mahmood Abu Bakr’s murder.

The two men native to neighbouring AA Atoll were apprehended by the islanders after Mahmood’s body was found and handed over to the Police.

Police state that although they are keeping the investigation open, there is no evidence linking the two Thoddoo men to the murder.

Meanwhile, police have arrested a foreign man with forensic proof linking him to the murder.

The migrant worker, identified as Salim (30+) from Bangladesh is employed as a caretaker of an elderly person on the island. Saalim is now remanded to 15 days in custody. The investigation continues with the police finding Mahmood’s missing smartphone.

Further, the Police suspect that others are involved in the crime and are currently investigating CCTV footage.
