Dhangethi Murder: Migrant worker remanded till end of trial

ADh. Atoll, Maldives – The migrant worker arrested under suspicion of murder at ADh. Dhangethi has been remanded to custody till end of trial.

The migrant worker from Bangladesh, Shah Alom Mia (29), common name Salim, is employed as a caretaker of an elderly person on the island.

Salim was remanded to custody till the end of the trial yesterday.

Police confirmed yesterday that the suspect received emergency care at IGMH on November 7 after receiving injuries to his arm while in remand custody. Reportedly Salim’s arm was fractured after a fall in the prison cell toilet.

While murder suspect Salim has been in custody for over a month, the police are completing the investigation into the brutal murder of Dhangethi local. The Police have identified the victim as Dhangethi businessman Mahmood Abu Bakr (57) whose body was disposed in a water well at an abandoned house on the island on 14 October 2021.
