Dhangethi Murder: Migrant worker remanded to 15 days in custody

ADh Atoll, Maldives – The migrant worker arrested under suspicion of murder at ADh. Dhangethi has been remanded to custody for 15 days.

The migrant worker, identified as Salim (30+) from Bangladesh is employed as a caretaker of an elderly person on the island.

Further, the Police suspect that others are involved in the crime and are currently investigating CCTV footage. The police team in charge of the murder investigation have not yet identified a specific focus and instead are keeping the investigation open.

The victim who has been identified as Dhangethi businessman Mahmood Abu Bakr was disposed in a water well at an abandoned house on the island. Islanders state that the victim’s body had signs of multiple stab wounds.

A special police team was dispatched to ADh. Dhangethi to retrieve the victim’s body from the well and conduct preliminary investigations. The islanders paid the final respect to Mahmood and the victim was buried on Friday.
