Malé, Maldives – The principal government hospital in the Maldives, IGMH, has closed the online patient portal amid a massive data leak.
Earlier today local news “Dhiyares” broke the news that patient information is stored in an unsecure site by IGMH and confidential patient data has been leaked.
While IGMH has not confirmed the news, experts state that patient data was stored behind a none SSL WordPress site.
IGMH released a statement that there was a security issue with the patient portal and the hospital is working to fix the problem.
Netizens are sharing concerns and calling for accountability as alleged medical records of patients are being exposed. Some reports state that an alleged leak of two years worth of information were leaked today.
